Can you make a difference?
ignorance fear
apathy injustice
It actually doesn't matter the color you pick - pick ANY color - pick ANYTHING -
anything that you want to use to represent that you pick PEACE.
After that nothing matters - can you do it?
Hang a Sign, a Flag, a Sticker - anything to show that you will not be part of the violence. PEACE is your CHOICE. There is no other option. If you will attack no one, then they don't have a reason to fight. This doesn't mean take a beating - defend yourself, your family, your home - but you will not attack anyone else.
Can we make a difference? I don't know. This is my option - put an idea out there that, if it takes hold, can stop a war, stop the violence, stop the politicians and fanatics cold.
I ran across the story that caused me to create makebluepeace.com - it is ‘War Fever’ by J.G. Ballard. I found it in the book “1990 Annual World’s Best SF” (Science Fiction). That story made me think of the ongoing wars in the middle east and the fact that no one seems able to stop them. AND they are fueled by the very countries that proclaim they want peace. The U.S is a major player along with all of the other military giants that produce all of the weaponry that is in use. It seems that we supply the fuel and let someone else fight and die. A couple of lines from that story that make the point (I changed ‘Beruit’ to ‘the world’ since that is what I felt]- “What if the living were to lay down their weapons? Suppose that all over [the world] the rival soldiers were to place their rifles at their feet, along with their identity tags and the photographs of their sisters and sweethearts, each a modest shrine to a cease-fire?” ….”What ransom could buy a cease-fire?” …. It isn’t easy, it isn’t without problems or insanity, but what if we just stop killing?
