It is with fervor the drums of war are beaten. The pounding beat rolls across a nation, a tribe, a caste, a sect while stirring passion, triggering deep rooted instincts and ancient fears. Men and women of power and influence bring crowds to their feet, pointing at the other crowd, the other group, the separate nation, the ones who would destroy everything. The thumping drive cannot be ignored and the ideologies surge forward, intending to crush and obliterate the enemy, the differences, to make everything the same. The drums beat and the young die. The drums beat and parents cry. The drums beat and insanity reigns. Those who were different are now the same as unexplained anger and intolerance push a crushing mold down upon the masses. The pulse stills and quiet sits heavy as confused we awaken from the trance induced by the now silent hammering cry for battle. We are not so different we see, we are not so similar either. Peace and time can allow uniqueness to survive and grow again until someone finds a drum and begins again to pound. Steel your mind and beware the drums of war.
