My daughter made a poster that says, "There is no Hate, only Misunderstanding. Keep the Peace." I hope, pray, encourage, desire that her generation will take another step toward truly understanding that statement.
People distinguish themselves by their unique characteristics. Those differences are what make people interesting, memorable, difficult, pleasant, frustrating, and complicated. You will always be different from everyone else. The problem is when groups get together and select a common difference and then use the difference to declare the group is 'better' than other people.
We cannot use a difference or set of differences to be used to separate, isolate, segregate, degrade, elevate, or abuse. Differences are strengths which combined with other differences make us whole. Our differences, when used in isolation are weaknesses which prevent us from linking with others not like us and therefore we lose the opportunity to make a better whole.
Declare your differences; Accept all other differences because these are missing parts of you!
